To search, type in a few descriptive key words and click the yellow GO button for a list of matching intellectual property. The search will return listings that contain ALL the words in your query. You can make the search more specific by selecting a single category of IP Type (from the drop down boxes).

REFINING YOUR SEARCH

Refining (narrowing) your search is possible by adding more key words to the already entered search terms. Using the REFINE tool combines your initial search with your new key word(s) using an "AND" operator.

SEARCH BY CATEGORY

If you are unsure of which key words to choose, you can browse through ALL listings in a category, one at a time; either choose "All Categories" (without key words) and enter GO - or click on left hand link to each category.

Searching within several categories using the same key word may also be of use. As an example, entering key word "bacteria" may lead you to hygiene products in the "Food" category, to soil management processes in the "Agriculture/Environment" category, and new antibiotics in the "Medical/Health" category.

CHOOSING KEY WORDS

It is important that key words are chosen carefully and that they are as specific as possible, to get the best results. As an example, a search for "diagnostic test" will get more results than one for "screening test".

AUTOMATIC "AND" QUERIES

By default, searches on this website will return IP listings including ALL of your key words. You do not need to include the word "and" in between words.

CAPITALIZATION

Also, by default, searches on this website are not case sensitive. All letters will be understood as lower case. As an example, searches for "laser light", "Laser Light" or "LaSeR LigHt" will all return the same results.

OTHER BOOLEAN OPERATORS

For your information, the searches engine for this website is not able to use "or" or "not" operators to refine searches.
